Towbar Technician

This is a certificated Towbar Technician course which provides a comprehensive introduction to towbar fitting using a proven structured course. You will complete a course that addresses the relevant disciplines needed to be a Towbar Technician. This included automotive electrical theory, bulb failure systems, tools & equipment, best practice in towbar fitting, troubleshooting & fault analysis and the safety issues surrounding vehicle and work place preparation. It also includes an introduction to CANbus and vehicle coding. On successful completion of this training course you will be able to start your Towbar Technician career.

The training courses are delivered by a team of professional lecturers from the towing industry and qualified ‘hands-on’ experts from the towbar industry.

Costs

The course is £995 + VAT per candidate (less 10% if you are a member of the National Towbar and Trailer Association)

A £200 deposit is required to secure a place on the course and the remaining course fee will need to be paid a minimum of 30 days before the start of the training date. (You would only have to fit approximately 5 towbars to recuperate the cost)

Successful candidates will be IMI and NTTA certified as a Towbar Technician. We will give you the tools to be confident and competent at fitting towbars.

CANbus, Towbar Fitting & Coding on 21st Century Vehicles

Level 3 Towbar Technician Course with Diagnostics bringing you as an experienced towbar fitter who has completed the ‘Level 2 Towbar Technician course’ up to speed with the latest vehicle technology towbar fitters are facing. We take you to the next skill level by looking closely at the new CANbus systems and how we recognise and work with them. This, of course, raises discussions about the knowledge of the vehicle management systems for you to make informed decisions about what equipment is the safest to install. Learn how Electronic Stability Control and Trailer Stability Programs may affect our installation and working practices.

Live discussions and information about how we identify which vehicles have safety issues with CANbus multiplex electric systems. Vehicle specific wiring kits and their application are covered in detail.

We will use the latest Diagnostics equipment to provide a practical demonstration on re-coding vehicle management systems for fault code removal and to activate towing safety functions. This course is certificated by the NTTA.

For anyone who works with trailers this course covers all you need to know about how trailers function. This day is packed with relevant information to show the delegates european overrun braking systems including auto-reverse disk brakes, running gear, coupling developments and electrical issues with the new LED lighting technology.

The delegate will complete Practical exercises using our specialist demonstration equipment and mobile trailer servicing classroom to simulate real workshop situations troubleshooting old and worn components.
